Global Portfolio Manager - Novartis AG (Greensboro, NC)

Manager and driver of an R&D BU-wide project and portfolio planning and tracking, fully inte-grated with global project financial and risk management in order to provide transparency, sup-port decision making by senior management bodies, and to propose resource allocation options.
• Manage value, costs, risk, timing and attrition of the Global NAH R&D project portfolio in close collaboration with Marketing and R&D.
• Manage generation of insights about the pipeline/Business Category/projects and provide insights to customers (project teams, Business Category heads, PMC and Senior Management etc) to enhance understanding.
• Assist in provision of functional support to internal customers, e.g. benchmarking data, KPIs, budget list, R&D dashboards, budget information, project/pipeline reports.
• Provide recommendations and support for senior management in preparation of all development portfolio related decisions and information as prioritization and budget allocation to projects.
• Support ad-hoc management initiatives/key projects in development and across Novartis Pharma.
Cross-Functional Activities
• Manage/support all R&D and Marketing function on project/pipeline specifics.
• Participate in and support joint R&D/Marketing groups addressing R&D portfolio issues. Be involved in all Marketing meetings (Category Expertise Groups etc.) that discuss portfolio matters.
An advanced university degree preferably in a life science (e.g. biology, veterinary medicine or agronomy) or graduate degree in Business (MBA). Industry experience, especially in Project and/or Portfolio Management of R&D projects, Marketing or Finance.
⢠Preferably 3+ years work experience in international and/or multidisciplinary drug development teams or R&D portfolio management experience or life science consultancy.
⢠Experience in handling complex financial and commercial figures and models.
⢠Desired knowledge about forecasting and valuation methodology.
⢠Knowledge and understanding of the competitive environment. Strategic thinking and politically savvy to assess implications on global project, resource management and decisions support in R&D.
⢠Expert knowledge of information technology and its applications to project and resource management systems as well as executive information systems.
⢠Excellent analytical, problem solving, planning and organisation skills. Proven ability to work under pressure.
⢠Strong interpersonal skills and ability to identify and collaborate with key stakeholders across functions.
⢠Excellent oral and verbal communication and information management skills.
⢠Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint experience, database management.
